What People Want...

Disclaimer: Not to be confused with what I want.

Less of Everything...

"Everyone knows if you swamp the market you force the prices down. That's what I don't get about this digital generation. They think what they're producing is valuable. How is it valuable? They're producing a lot of everything and for free."

Influence...

"You can't influence our culture, you can only imitate our culture. Everything you create, we take it and make it ours."

Term Limits...

"...the term limits are based on a rationale that democracy should be in a transient state. Eight years should/could be enough. Otherwise, complacency sets in and the system is already full of that."

Interesting People...

You are not interesting... enough. Really, you're not. People care about what you think, what you're doing and what you think you're doing, but it reminds them of their dull lives. They want you to be fascinating. Re-imagine yourself! Close your eyes. Think about who you are. Now, forget that. Be someone else because you're not appealing. Make a plan. Create a brand (one that doesn't rhyme). People need you to think outside the box. A blog, a website, and/or a reality show is not enough. They are great for displaying ego, but it's not entertaining enough. It doesn't say anything about you. People want costumes, sexy costumes, new names, an entourage (some will call it a tribe), and a super sized ego. Then you can tell them what's on your mind. Except, it won't be what you really think. You're not interesting, remember. Tell them what you imagine, they think is thought provoking. They will relate to you. Some will even pretend to connect with you. See, you've become someone who plays a role in how they view themselves. That's why you're interesting. You make them interesting and they will love you for that. At the very least, they will have a lot of fun.

People don't want Stefani...

They want Lady Gaga.

Look What They Can Do...

There is a high demand for products that can do things. They don't have to do them well. They just have to be capable of doing it. They don't want a finished product. They want the right ecosystem, the right distribution channels, with lots of open api's, and an open development platform. These products are important because it gives them things to do.

There are two groups within this market: You have the group that want to build stuff that can make other people do stuff. You also have the group that want to do stuff, a lot of stuff and they want you to make as many things that can make them do many things. The more they can do, the happier they are.

Signals & Responses...

I was running in the park, my usual route, iPod on, when I saw a ball rolling towards the path. When I caught up to it, I kicked it to the nearest kid and kept going. The kid started running along with me and kicked the ball in my direction again. I immediately responded by kicking it back to him, this time with more flair (Maradonna?) then kept running. Next, the ball flew right by my face and into the horizon, completely out of my reach. I immediately stopped, I looked back at the kid wondering what the hell he did that for, when he said, "I just want to talk."

Open Up To The Universe...

I was having a discussion with a friend about whether or not a company can be truly open. She feels as information become more and more accessible, openness becomes the best strategic advantage, allowing you to form the most strategic partnership: with the universe. By sharing ideas/thoughts openly, you allow the universe to do the work while you make the decisions.
